Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Your PDF is split entirely in your browser and is never uploaded to our servers.
How do I type page ranges?
Separate pages and ranges with commas, for example 1-3, 5, 8-10. Pages are always kept in their original order, and each page can only be listed once.
What happens if pages don’t divide evenly into groups?
The last PDF is simply shorter. For example, a 10-page PDF split into groups of 3 gives PDFs with 3, 3, 3 and 1 pages.
Will the quality of my pages change?
No. Pages are copied as they are — not converted to images — so text stays sharp and selectable, and each page keeps its size and orientation.
Can I split password-protected PDFs?
Not yet. Password-protected or encrypted PDFs can’t be split. Remove the protection in a PDF app you trust, then try again.
What isn’t carried over to the new PDFs?
The pages and what’s printed on them are kept. Document-level extras may be lost or stop working, including bookmarks, fillable form fields, digital signatures, attachments and document properties such as the title and author.
