Frequently asked questions

Which formats can I convert?

You can convert JPG/JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP images into JPG, PNG or WebP. Every image in a batch is converted to the same output format.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Your images are converted entirely in your browser and are never uploaded to our servers.

What happens to transparency when converting to JPG?

JPG doesn’t support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose — white or black. PNG and WebP keep transparency.

Can I convert animated GIFs?

Animated GIFs are converted using their first frame. Converting animations isn’t supported yet.

Will converting reduce image quality?

PNG is lossless. JPG and WebP use compression: choose a higher quality for more detail or a lower one for smaller files.

Will my phone photos stay the right way up?

Yes. Rotation information from phones and cameras is applied, so photos keep their correct orientation. Other metadata, such as location, is not copied to the converted file.

How many images can I convert at once?

Up to 50 images per batch, with a maximum of 20 MB per image and 100 MB in total.
