Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Your images are resized entirely in your browser and are never uploaded to our servers.
What is the difference between Fit, Fill and Stretch?
Fit scales the image to fit inside the size you choose without cropping. Fill covers the size exactly and trims the edges evenly. Stretch resizes to exactly that width and height, even if the image becomes distorted.
What does “Don’t enlarge images” do?
It stops small images from being scaled up, which makes them blurry. They keep their original size instead (or, for Fill and Stretch, the largest size with the same shape that doesn’t need enlarging). Turn it off to allow enlarging.
Can I resize several images at once?
Yes. Add up to 50 images (20 MB each, 100 MB in total). They’re resized with the same settings and downloaded together as a ZIP file.
What happens to GIF and BMP images?
With “Keep original format”, GIF and BMP images are saved as PNG, because browsers can’t create GIF or BMP files. Animated GIFs are resized using the first frame only.
Will my phone photos stay the right way up?
Yes. Rotation information from phones and cameras is applied, so photos keep their correct orientation. Other metadata, such as location, is not copied to the resized file.
