Frequently asked questions
How is the exact age calculated?
The calculator counts the complete years and months from the date of birth using real calendar months, then the days left over. It doesn’t divide by an average month or year length, so different month lengths and leap years are handled exactly.
What if I was born on 29 February?
In years without a 29 February, the birthday is counted on 28 February. That date is used both for the age (a new year is completed on 28 February) and for the next birthday, so the results stay consistent.
How are birthdays on the 29th, 30th or 31st handled?
When a month doesn’t have that day, the month is completed on its last day. For example, someone born on 31 January completes their first month on 28 February (29 in a leap year), and their second on 31 March.
Can I calculate age on a past or future date?
Yes. Change “Calculate age as of” to any date on or after the date of birth — for example, to check an age limit on an application or exam date.
What do total days and total weeks mean?
Total days is the number of calendar days from the date of birth to the selected date. Total weeks is the number of complete 7-day periods in that time, with any remaining days shown separately.
What happens if the selected date is a birthday?
The age shows the new number of years with 0 months and 0 days, and the next birthday shown is the one a year later.

No. Everything is calculated in your browser. Your dates aren’t sent to our servers or stored.
